The Borough Market
The Borough is a part of the Southern area of the London
Bridge and the Borough market is situated there only. This market was initiated
in the year 1014 almost few centuries ago. The market has been wandering into
various destinations across London but it fixed to its current location in the
year 1870. The City Corporation owned the market till early 1990s then the
rights of it were transferred to a self-governing trust in the year 1999. The
market is operating as a whole sale market but this shuts down, it sells food
items. It is one of the most visited and dearest London markets which is
visited by 30,000 visitors every month. This market is known as ‘London's

This market is known to be the UK’s biggest fruits and
flower market. It has more than 200 businesses and around 2500 persons have got
their employment from there. This market is so big that 40% of the demand of
fresh vegetables and fruits consumed in the suburbs of London is fulfilled from
here. 75% of the London Florists also fulfill their requirements of flowers
